  • Co-founder of Airespace, which raised over $50 million in venture funding and developed centralized techniques for wireless LANs that were later incorporated into the IEEE 802.11 standards
  • Technical editor, technical contributor, and/or chair for half a dozen IEEE 802.11 WiFi standards documents as well as for the HomePlug Alliance’s Powerline Network standard
  • Co-author of a reference book on the IEEE 802.11 WiFi standards and contributor to another about gigabit Ethernet
  • Received the IEEE Standards Medallion award for contributions to and leadership in 802.11 standards development
  • Developed the first military solid-state memory cartridge for rapid initialization of the F-16 avionics system
  • Named inventor of nearly fifty issued U.S. patents including many in the areas of wired and wireless networking including for mesh networks and network security mechanisms
